Anita - Personal Assistant

Tell us about your career so far with ECL.
I have been in the ECL world close to 10 years I started in 2002. My first role was at Pace in the call centre, then I moved into various roles like next flights (they handle all our Urgent items going on flights around the country) then it was Channel 4 handling all customers inquiries and driver queries. Then my last role before I left there in 2008 was in Despatch as an Exceptions Coordinator (they call all customers for late deliveries as well as look after the drivers).

In 2008 I left the business thinking the grass was greener on the other side, 1 month later I was back! I decided to come back to this business because I really enjoyed working for a fast paced company with great people so I moved into a Recruitment Support role within the ECL head office, I was in this role for about a year.  From there I moved into Group Administrator supporting the HR team. Now I am PA to the General Manager of CourierPost where I have been for around 6 months and loving it.

Describe a typical day for you at work.
I support the GM of CourierPost which involves managing his emails and calendar and ensuring he gets the administrative support required. I also provide PA support to our National Sales Manager and the rest of our CourierPost Senior Management team, working closely with the Executive Assistant to our CEO. Another key part of my role is organising travel for ECL northern region and I still cover a few HR functions so I have a lot of hats and am kept really busy which I enjoy!

What do you most enjoy about your job?
As a PA there is a lot of organising of people and events which is my forte! I really enjoy working in a role doing something I am passionate about.

What do you most enjoy about working for our company?
I love working for ECL, there is a real family feel. I like to think our team is very close and I can be myself, which I think sometimes can be very hard in the corporate world. I think ECL has a down to earth culture which makes you feel comfortable, while at the same time a high level of professionalism.

What opportunities do you see for yourself within ECL?
There are always plenty of opportunities for me in ECL as you can clearly see from the roles I have been in. The courses I have been encouraged to do like Outstanding PA and PowerPoint improve my skill set and will help me progress into an Executive Assistant role and beyond in the future.

Tell us a bit about yourself, what do you like to do in your spare time?
Spare time – ha ha! Between working full time and being a mother of twins it doesn’t leave a lot of time. But I do enjoy spending time with my family and entertaining my close friends.

Describe your personality in a few words.
I like to think I’m an outgoing person who tries to do the best in everything I do. I like to have a good laugh. I’m bubbly and I’m told I can talk too much and too fast, I just have so much to say in such a little time!
