visit the DHL Go Green websiteWe benefit from the leadership, research and innovation of our parents: DHL and the New Zealand Post Group.

We are serious about our comittments to:

  • Be a good employer, treating our people fairly and with respect, and valuing diversity. We are committed to creating a workplace that makes people want to join, stay and work to their full potential. The safety and wellbeing of our people is a priority.
  • Deliver to our customers what we have promised; we will listen to them and involve them in our solutions and innovations.
  • Work with our suppliers to develop long term partnerships based on best practice procurement methods which reflect mutually agreeable codes of conduct and respect basic human rights.
  • Recognise the environment, social and economic needs of the communities we work in and endeavour to be a good neighbour. We will involve relevant communities in initiatives we implement.
  • Better understand, manage and measure our environment impacts and minimise our carbon footprint.

As part of the New Zealand Post Group, we have been reporting on our carbon emissions since 2003/04. Our emissions are measured based on the burning of fuels, energy, waste, paper and air travel and reported in tonnes of CO2 emitted. We as a Group are targeting a 12% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2012.

We also participate in the rigorous DHL Go Green Program. Both parent companies publish triple bottom line reporting (across financial, environmental and social performance) within their annual reports, available online:

Corporate Responsibility Index

We have for the third year running, under the NZ Post Group governance, contributed to the Corporate Responsibility Index administered by Business in the Community (UK).

The CRI is a voluntary non-prescriptive framework for corporate responsibility benchmarking. Participating in the CRI audit enables CourierPost to accurately benchmark and improve all aspects of corporate responsibility and its integration with wider business strategy.

The Post Group overall CRI score this past year, of 68% (based on its performance to the end of June 08) is a 17% up lift on its first year score of 51%. The Post Group’s 17% increase ranks the Post Group the highest score improvement for an organisation between 2008 and 2009.  The 2009 CRI result will be available mid-2010.
